BETHANY TO CELEBRATE STUDENTS' ACHIEVEMENTS AT HONORS CONVOCATION

BETHANY, W.Va. – College-wide and departmental awards will be presented to students when Bethany holds its annual Honors Day and Convocation on Thursday, April 6.

Formal Convocation will begin at 11 a.m. with College President G.T. "Buck" Smith presiding. Professor Robyn R. Cole has chaired the College's Honors Committee, which has been in charge of arrangements for the annual event. Other members of the Bethany faculty who are on the Committee are Elizabeth M. Hull, Kosmas Mouratidis, Robert A. Paysen, Barbara Ann J. Reiffer, T. Gale Thompson and Walt Turner.

Included in the awards will be those to the Outstanding Senior, Outstanding Junior Woman, Outstanding Junior Man and the Bethany 2000 Prize, which will be given to a member of the senior class who has best demonstrated loyalty and commitment to the College in a wide variety of activities throughout the course of his or her studies.

Awards to be given by academic departments include those from Biology, Chemistry, Communication, Economics and Business, Education, English, Fine Arts, Foreign Languages, History and Political Science, Mathematics and Computer Science, Physical Education, Physics, Psychology and Religious Studies. In addition, the Entrepreneurial Spirit and Pre-Medical Studies awards will be presented.

Recognition will be made of those Bethany students who are members of the College honor societies and awards will be made to the social groups having the highest grade-point average during the fall semester of the College's 164th academic year.

Following the morning Convocation, President Smith and members of the Honors Committee will host a reception for award winners and members of the honor societies.
