BETHANY, W.Va. - Bethany College Theatre will continue the 2006-2007 season, when it presents George Bernard Shaw's "The Dark Lady of the Sonnets."

The performances set for September 28-30 at 6 p.m. and October 1st at 2 p.m., will take place in the outdoor Amphitheater, weather permitting. The production will be moved inside to Wailes Theater in Steinman Hall in case of inclement weather.

"The Dark Lady of the Sonnets", directed by Luke Hardt, Assistant Professor of Fine Arts- Theatre and Lydia Lavin, is an imaginary adventure of William Shakespeare and Queen Elizabeth.8047_MG_2222.JPG

In the performance, Will, played by Glenn Wright, goes to the palace to meet the Dark Lady, played by Katie Orwig, to whom he will address his sonnets of love. Instead, he finds the Queen herself taking a walk before retiring. Will is so fascinated by the Queen, played by Elizabeth Brewer, that he does not even notice the appearance of the Dark Lady. Out of jealousy the Dark Lady furiously defeats both Will and Queen Elizabeth. The play also features Ryan Darrow as the Beefeater.
