Relay For Life is the American Cancer Society’s signature event that helps raise funds for cancer research, education and support. It is a unique fundraising experience that brings communities together in hope for a cure.

Jim Forbes of WTRF Channel 7 and Bethany College Professor Kenn Morgan made the opening remarks.

The Relay officially began with the survivor lap with seven cancer survivors leading the way to symbolize the strength and hope that their families and communities uphold each day. The Luminaria Ceremony was held at 9:00 p.m. Lighting luminaries is deeply moving Relay ritual that honors cancer survivors, remembers those who lost the battle and reminds participants the difference that they are making.
