BETHANY, W.Va. — Bethany College has announced the 2006 Homecoming Court. The crowning of the king and queen will take place on Saturday, October 7 during halftime of the football game against Grove City College.

Nominated for King are Luke Hladek, Joe McLane, John McLane, Zach Moinet, TJ Parker, and Sam Vuchenich. The nominees for Homecoming Queen are Elizabeth Davis, Megan Ferda, Sabrina Iqbal, Vanessa Myers, Vanessa Plumly, and Alejandra Viveros.

Davis, the daughter of Michael and Lynne Davis of Wintersville, Ohio, represents the Alpha Xi Delta sorority. A Biology major, she also serves as the Senior Class President, past Junior Class President, Vice-president of the Pan-Hellenic Council and Music Chair of the Student Activities Council. Davis is also a member of American Chemical Society, Bethanians Speak Out About Rights6475MeganFurda.jpg (SOAR) and the Tri-Beta Biology Honor Society.

Representing Alpha Xi Delta, Ferda is the daughter of Phillip and Deborah Ferda of New Athens, Ohio. She is the Psychology Club President, a member of Adopt a Grandparent, Adopt a Highway, Psi Chi, Active Disciples on Campus, The Well and a member of the Follansbee Christian Assembly Church.

An Economics major with a minor in Spanish, Iqbal is the daughter of Shahid Iqbal of
Dhaka, Bangladesh. A member of Alpha Xi Delta sorority, she is also a Head Residence Advisor, President of the International Students Association, former Academic Chair and current historian of Alpha Xi Delta, member of the Economics Club, Social Awareness Club, the College Choir, the Student Government Association and she serves as an economics tutor.5862VanessaMeyers.JPG

Meyers, daughter of Michael and Cynthia Myers of Vanderbilt, Pa. Meyers is representing Alpha Xi Delta. She is a Psychology Major as well as the Chief Financial Officer of the Student Activities Council, Senior Class Treasurer, Psychology Department Senior Fellow, member of the Gamma Sigma Kappa and Psi Chi Honorary Societies as well as serving as a Renner Union Student Supervisor.

Plumly, a German and History major, and daughter of Roger and Jane Plumly, of Barnesville, Ohio, represents Alpha Xi Delta. She also serves as President of the German Club and Financial Vice President of Alpha Xi Delta. She is a member of the Cheerleading squad, International Students Association, Spanish Club and is a peer writing tutor and German Apprentice Teacher.

Representing Alpha Xi Delta, Viveros is the daughter of Rodolfo and Patricia Viveros of Canonsburg, Pa. She is a Communication major and is the current Vice President of the Student Government Association. She is also the Alpha Xi Delta Academic Achievement Chair, a Spanish Apprentice Teacher, as well as a member of the Bethany Kalon Honorary Society. She was also a member of the varsity tennis team and served as a Residence Advisor.8019LukeHladek.JPG


Hladek, son of John and Judi Hladek of
St. Clairsville, Ohio, is representing Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity. He is an Education major and is a member of the varsity soccer team.

Representing Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity, Joe McLane is the son of Jo-Ellen Goodall of Follansbee, W.Va. He is a Chemistry major as well as the Recruitment Chair for Phi Kappa Tau and Interfraternal Council. He is also a member of Gamma Sigma Epsilon Honorary Society, Beta Beta Beta, Student Athletic Advisory Committee, American Chemical Society, Active Disciples On Campus, and is a varsity tennis player.


Son of Jo-Ellen Goodall of
Follansbee, W.Va., John McLane is representing Sigma Nu Fraternity. McLane is a Physics major with a minor in Math. He serves as the President of Sigma Nu as well as a member of the Outdoors Club, Society of Physics Students, Kappa Mu Epsilon Honorary Society and is a varsity tennis player.



Representing the Independent Student Body is Moinet, son of Judi and Chris Moinet of Greenville, Pa. He is a Communication Major as well as a member of the Society of Professional Journalists, a Senior Fellow of the Communication Department, and is an annual intramural participant.

A Physical Education major from
Austintown, Ohio, Parker is the son of Ray Parker and Cindy Fuentes. He is representing the Independent Student Body, and serves as a captain of the Bethany College Football Team. He also serves as Vice President of the Physical Education Club and is a member of Student Athletic Advisory Committee.


Vuchenich, son of Momcilo and Patricia Vuchenich of Steubenville, Ohio, is representing Phi Kappa Tau Fraternity. He is an Interdisciplinary Studies Major with an emphasis in Creative Composition. He is also the President of the Student Activities Council, Phi Kappa Tau Chaplain and Philanthropy Chair, Interfraternal Council Leadership Education Chair, the Editor of the Harbinger, member of the Bethany Kalon Honorary Society, a peer writing tutor, serves on the Student Government Association Executive Board and Vice President of the Writers Club.

Bethany College students voted during lunch and dinner to choose the 2006 Homecoming Court, and will vote again this week to select the king and queen out of the 12 nominees.
