Morgan, a 1971 graduate of Bethany, has been a professor of fine arts at the College since 1989. He received his Master of Arts from West Virginia University and did postgraduate work at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, North Carolina State University and the Santa Reparata Institute in Florence, Italy.
Morgan has for many years devoted his expertise and talent to enhancing the beauty of Bethany in a variety of ways, including the mounting of art shows, placement of art throughout the campus and even guiding the choice of paint colors for classrooms and buildings.
“Bethany College is fortunate to have a fine and extensive collection of art in many forms,” said Smith. “It is imperative that we present and preserve our art treasures in the best ways possible. I am confident that under the leadership of Kenn Morgan, the Bethany art collection is in good hands and will continue to expand.”
One of his first projects will be to better organize the current Renner Union permanent collection while also adding to the number of artworks in the collection. Another priority will be to develop the gallery exhibition calendar for 2007-2008.
“It is an honor to have been asked by President Smith to continue some of the important work that my good friend and mentor Darline Nicholson did so well for many years,” said Morgan. “I believe that my background in gallery work and fine arts management has prepared me for this responsibility and I will give this new assignment my ‘Bethany best’ with the help of my colleagues, students, alumni and friends.”
