BETHANY, W.Va. — Bethany College President Scott D. Miller announced that Dr. Erich Lippman, Assistant Professor of History, will serve as the College’s Faculty Athletics Representative to the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) and the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA).

“Dr. Lippman’s commitment to the vitality of Bethany College and to excellence in his work has earned him the esteem of academic and athletic faculty and staff alike,” stated Miller. “He is well-equipped to represent the College in this multi-faceted capacity and advance the best interests of our students.”

The Faculty Athletics Representative position is required by the NCAA and PAC and serves as a liaison between the athletic and academic interests of the College, as well as a representative of the institution in PAC and NCAA affairs.

Lippman, who received his master’s and doctorate in modern European history from the University of Minnesota, will oversee issues involving student-athlete welfare. As Faculty Athletics Representative, Lippman will help ensure the healthy balance between academics and intercollegiate athletics that is at the heart of Bethany’s mission to provide a well-rounded, liberal arts education.
