BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany alumnus Bob McCann, President Americas of UBS AG and Wealth Management Americas, will be the keynote speaker at Bethany College’s 2015 Commencement Ceremony. The event, which is part of the College’s 175th Anniversary Commencement Weekend, will be held in the Tilock Amphitheatre in the Pennington Quadrangle May 16 at 10 a.m.
As head of the Americas region for UBS, McCann leads the execution of a cross-divisional strategy to deliver the full capabilities of the firm to corporate, institutional, individual and government clients. Since 2009, he has led the Wealth Management Americas division and served as a member of the UBS Group Executive Board.
A 1980 Bethany graduate, McCann has a long history of giving back to his alma mater. In 2009, he established the McCann Family Student Investment Fund at Bethany. The fund, the first of its kind in West Virginia, allows students to serve as investment professionals responsible for a $1.5 million endowment. McCann also serves as vice chair of Bethany’s Board of Trustees.
“Bob has created many life-impacting opportunities for Bethany students,” said Bethany College President Dr. Scott D. Miller. “We are honored to welcome him back to campus, as he is an extraordinary example of the global impact a Bethany education can foster.”
In addition to his support for Bethany, McCann serves on the board of directors of the American Ireland Fund, a leader in integrated education, and is a member of the board of trustees of the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of New York.
After receiving his undergraduate degree in economics from Bethany, McCann went on to earn his M.B.A. from the Neeley School of Business of Texas Christian University. He received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Bethany in 2010.
