BETHANY, W.Va. – Avella Area High School seniors seeking to enroll in Bethany College next year now have the opportunity for a full-tuition scholarship, thanks to the generosity of two Bethany alumni.
Bethany College is now accepting applications for the Georgiana and Robert F. Riley, Jr. Scholarship for one qualified student graduating from the Avella Area who has been accepted to matriculate as a freshman at Bethany.
To qualify, the student must have attended all four years at Avella Area High School, achieved a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.5, applied to Bethany, been accepted to matriculate as a freshman beginning in September 2018, and must maintain a 2.5 grade point average through their four-year education at Bethany.
This scholarship is available through the generosity of Robert and Georgiana Riley who met in 1970 while attending Bethany. Mr. Riley served as Director of Admissions at Bethany and later was an executive at Blue Cross Blue Shield of West Virginia. Mrs. Riley started in the chemical industry and went to become the owner, president and chief executive officer of TIGG Corporation in Pittsburgh.
As distinguished alumni of Bethany College, they hope to provide a deserving Avella Area graduate with the kind of opportunities made possible by a great education.
