Feb. 4 - BETHANY, W. Va. - Bethany basketball standouts, senior Leslie Addy (Columbia, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) and senior Skylar Williams (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) have been named the Bethany College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee's Athletes of the Week, announced the Bethany SAAC on Tuesday.
Addy helped the men’s squad grab a pair of conference victories over the week. He averaged 17.5 points and five rebounds over the two-game span. In the 79-56 win over Geneva, he was able to drop a game-high 17 points, while tallying seven boards, two blocks, and one steal. In a 73-66 win over Grove City, he continued his dominant play, shooting a blistering 5-of-8 from downtown, leading to a game-high 18 points.
On the year Addy has been extremely consistent, averaging 11.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest, including three double-doubles. He has displayed a fine touch from distance, ranking sixth in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference in three-point percentage (.433). Addy has also demonstrated his talent on the defensive end, ranking second on the team in blocked shots and third in steals.
Williams continues to impress, having one of her best weeks of the year. Over two games she averaged 10.5 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, while shooting a blistering eight-of-16 (.500) from the field. Against Geneva on Jan. 29, she stuffed the stat sheet, scoring 11 points and notching eight rebounds, six assists, two steals, and one blocked shot. Against Grove City, Williams was at it again, matching a career-high with eight assists, while chipping in 10 points, five boards, and one steal.
Williams has had a successful senior campaign thus far, ranking third in the PAC with 3.4 assists per game. She also brings it on the defensive end of the court, leading the team in steals per contest.
Other nominees for the SAAC Athletes of the Week included swimming & diving athletes, Jeremy Starr (Warren, Ohio/Warren G. Harding) and Christine Pray (Canton, Mich./Canton).
