Jasn. 23 - WEXFORD, Pa. – A total of 35 Bethany College student-athletes were recognized Friday when the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) announced its Fall PAC Academic Honor Roll.
In all, 314 student-athletes from league schools were named to the honor roll, which recognizes those on fall varsity athletic teams who earned a grade-point average of 3.6 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the semester of their competition. The total was up 10 from the 304 who made the Honor Roll in the Fall of ’08.
Bethany placed 35 student-athletes on the list, which is their highest total since 37 Bison were honored following the Fall of 2002. Perhaps more impressive than the overall total was that 37 percent of Bethany’s recognized student-athletes (13) earned perfect 4.0 GPAs for the semester.
Volleyball led the way for the Bethany sports, as nearly half of head coach Courtney Kline’s roster made the Honor Roll. Out of 18 volleyball players, eight were on the list, including six with 4.0 GPAs. Seven members of the Bison football and women’s soccer teams made the grade, while four women’s cross country runners and women’s tennis players also earned a spot on the list.
Bethany ranked high overall among other PAC schools, tying with Thomas More for third behind Waynesburg (49) and Geneva (36). Behind the Bison on the list were Grove City (34), Saint Vincent and Thiel (32), Westminster (31), Washington & Jefferson (17) and Chatham (13).
