Jan. 25 - WEXFORD, Pa. – Bethany College set a new semester high when 43 students-athletes were named to the 2012 Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC Fall Academic Honor Roll.)
A total of 427 student-athletes from 10 league schools were named to the honor roll, which recognizes those on fall varsity athletic teams who earned a grade-point average of 3.6 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the semester of their competition. That represented a 13.8 percent increase from the previous fall semester.
Waynesburg led all league schools with 70 on the Honor Roll, followed by Geneva with 56, Grove City at 51 and Bethany and Thiel tied for fourth with 43. Completing the list was Washington & Jefferson (42), Westminster (38), Saint Vincent (36), Thomas More (30) and Chatham (18).
The previous high number of Bison student-athletes to make the honor roll was following the 2001 Fall semester when 39 were named to the list. Headlining this year’s group was the women’s soccer program with 10 members on the Honor Roll, followed closely by football with nine and then volleyball, women’s cross country and men’s soccer with six each.
Of the 43 to be recognized, 17 of those posted a perfect 4.0 GPA and 29 on the list earned better than a 3.8.
