July, 17 - BETHANY, W. VA. Bethany College has named Jerrod Plate as its new Sports Information Director starting Monday, July 15, as announced by Director of Athletics Brian Rose. Plate will fill the position left by Rose when he took over as the full-time Director of Athletics & Recreation in May.
"We are pleased to have someone with Jerrod's experience and character as our new Sports Information Director at Bethany," said College President Dr. Scott D. Miller. "He has a familiarity with the conference already and his work with new media at McMurry will help enhance our social media presence. His background and work ethic are a perfect fit to ensure that our programs are fully promoted and our student-athletes continue to receive the recognition they deserve."
Plate comes to Bethany having worked in the realm of Sports Information for eight years. His most recent position was at NCAA Division II McMurry University in Abilene, Texas. While with the War Hawks, Plate served as the Assistant Sports Information Director in charge of new media. He also served as primary contact for Volleyball, Men’s and Women’s soccer, baseball and men’s basketball.
Prior to his time at McMurry, he spent two seasons with fellow Presidents’ Athletic Conference institution Thiel College, where he served under Bethany alum and current PAC Director of Communications Kevin Fenstermacher. During his time there, Plate helped renovate the college’s athletic website and spent time as a primary contact for all sports, which also included men’s volleyball and lacrosse.
A graduate of the University of Mount Union, and native of Negley, Ohio, Plate is married with two small children. He and his wife Tasha have one son (Jaxson) and one daughter (Zoey).
