March 3 – BETHANY, W. Va. – Men’s basketball senior Leslie Addy (Columbia, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti), and women’s senior track and field athlete Paige Prato (Gibsonia, Pa./Deer Lakes) have been named the Bethany College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee’s Athletes of the Month for February, announced the Bethany SAAC on Monday.
Over the final month of the season, Addy helped the men’s basketball team to a 7-1 record, which included winning the final seven games of the regular season, en route to a 21-4 mark and the #1 overall seed in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championship Tournament. Over the final eight games, Addy posted double-digit scoring marks in five contests, averaging 11.8 points and 7.8 rebounds. He notched two double-doubles, including a 17-point, 15-rebound performance on senior day in a 72-69 win over Washington & Jefferson.
In the final week of the regular season, Addy was given the nod as the PAC Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week when he averaged 15 points and 10.5 rebounds.
Addy had a superb final season for the Bison, scoring in double figures in 15 games, including five double-double efforts. Over the course of the year, he averaged 11.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Addy was consistent in all facets of the game, leading the squad in three-point makes (52), while ranking third in both assists (44) and total steals (45).
Prato has done an excellent job for the month of February as a member of the Bison Indoor Track squad. Primarily a sprinter, Prato has done the most damage in the 200 meter dash. At the Jim Wuske Invitational on Feb. 8, Prato notched a fifth-place finish with a time of 27.77. The following week on Feb. 14 at the Mid February Meet hosted by Baldwin Wallace, she finished third in a field of 60 competitors (26.74). To go along with the 200, Prato has also grabbed top-five finishes in the 55 meter dash (7.53, fourth-place – Feb. 14) and 60 meter dash (8.27, fourth-place – Feb. 8).
Prato finished the month by capturing a Presidents’ Athletic Conference Championship in the 60 meter dash, breaking the meet record with a time of 8.01. She also finished third in the 200 meter dash (26.89).
Other nominees for the SAAC Athletes of the Month included swimming and diving athletes freshman Jacob Collas (South Park, Pa./South Park), sophomore Brandon Martell (Sharon, Pa./Sharon), sophomore Alexi Pyles (Los Angeles, Calif./Granada Hills Charter) and freshman Christine Pray (Canton, Mich./Canton). Also on the list included track and field standouts sophomores Kyle Minger (Richmond, Ohio/Edison Local) and Umar Moore (Coraopolis, Pa./Moon), as well as basketball athletes junior Delonte’ Joyce (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis), senior Taylor Verrico (Monaca, Pa./Quigley), senior Skylar Williams (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) and sophomore Sami Schott (Caldwell, Ohio/Shenandoah).
