Lynsie Mandt and Eric Blinn Named SAAC September Athletes of the Month

Oct. 14 - BETHANY, W. Va. - Bison volleyball junior Lynsie Mandt (Columbus, Ohio/Worthington Kilbourne) and football sophomore Eric Blinn (Beaver, Pa./Western Beaver) were selected as the Athletes of the Month for the month of September by the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) on Monday evening.

Blinn had a monster September for the Bison who went 1-3 in the month...Blinn caught 46 passes for 613 yards and a touchdown over the four-week span...still the currently Division III leader in catches and receiving yards, Blinn averaged 221.5 all-purpose yards per game in the month of September which then ranked third in the country...Blinn's biggest game of the month was a 16-catch performance against Geneva (A Bethany single-game record) where he gained 183 yards and scored a touchdown.

Mandt appeared in all 14 matches for the Bison while playing in 42 of 44 games...she totaled 86 kills, 104 digs, three aces and 20 total blocks, for a point total of 101.0 for the month for a Bethany squad that went 12-2...broke double-digit kills four times during the month with the high water mark of 14 kills against Penn-State double-double (12 kills/14 digs) against John Carroll...notched double-digit digs three times including 17 against W&J.

Other nominees for the awards included Bison football junior Phil Acrie (Pittsburgh, Pa./Linsley), and cross country sophomore Ryan Donnelly (Pittsburgh, Pa./Penn Hills) on the men's side, and sophomore volleyball player Mackenzie Lauber (Mansfield, Ohio/Madison Mansfield) and women's soccer freshman standout Julie Slezak (Latrobe, Pa./Greater Latrobe) on the women's side.
