June 28 - WEXFORD, Pa. – A total of 26 Bethany College student-athletes were recently named to the Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Academic Honor Roll following the spring semester.
In all, 421 student-athletes from 10 league schools were named to the honor roll, which recognizes those on winter and spring varsity athletic teams who earned a grade point average of 3.6 or higher on a 4.0 scale during the semester of their competition. The Spring 2013 total represents a nearly 16 percent increase from the previous spring semester.
In addition, it raised the total of student-athletes recognized on the 2012-13 PAC Academic Honor Rolls to 852, which are 117 more than the previous league-high of 735 set in 2010-11.
Bethany also achieved a record for total number of student-athletes to make the PAC Academic Honor Roll. The Bison had 69 student-athletes earn the recognition during the year, including a new semester-record 43 in the fall. The previous high was 66, which was set during the 2001-02 academic year.
Leading the way for Bethany’s teams this spring was the softball program with seven student-athletes on the list. Right behind with six was the women’s track and field team, while women’s basketball posted four on the honor roll and the golf program was tops on the men’s side with three.
Of the 26 who earned a spot on the list, 16 earned better than a 3.8.
