July 7 - BETHANY, W. Va. - Following three weeks of voting from fans and students from all around the Bison community, you the fans have selected freshman baseball standout, Zack Miller (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin), as the recipient of this year's "Bison Performance of the Year" award.
Miller earned the award for his performance in the Bison's final game of the season, when the Bison locked up the third overall seed in the Presidents' Athletic Conference championship tournament by defeating Thomas More, 17-5. Miller went 4-for-5 in the contest with five RBI. He also had two, extra-base hits in the contest which included a double and his second home run of the 2014 campaign. With the victory, the Bison clinched a playoff berth for the first time since the 2006 season.
Miller controlled the voting process from start to finish, as he garnered 42.5% of the votes in the contest. The next highest was men's lacrosse's Grant Delaney (Wooster, Ohio/Wooster) with 21% percent. Cross Country athlete Brooke Bossworth (St. Clairsville, Ohio/St. Clairsville) came in third with 14%, while men's basketball's Delonte' Joyce (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) and volleyball's Mackenzie Lauber (Mansfield, Ohio/Madison-Mansfield) rounded out the top five, earning 8%, each.
