March 25 – BETHANY, W. Va. – Bison baseball ace, senior Zak Kozlowski (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) and softball standout, freshman Sarah Coss (Bowie, Md./Bishop McNamara), have been named the Bethany College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee’s Athletes of the Week, announced the Bethany SAAC on Tuesday.
Kozlowski was phenomenal in his only appearance on the spring break trip, as he led the Bison to a 4-1 win over St. Mary's on March 18. The senior righty tossed a complete game three-hitter, allowing only one run while striking out five batters.
Leading the President’s Athletic Conference in opposing batting average (.167) and ranking second in ERA (2.31), Kozlowski has already earned two wins on the young season. He has also done an excellent job keeping the hitters guessing, striking out nine batters, while issuing just one free pass.
Coss led the way for the Bison last week, hitting .357 while driving in a team-best three RBI. In a victory over McDaniel College, Coss reached base in all three of her at bats, going 3-for-3 on the day while driving in two RBI. On the year, Coss is batting .273 with six hits and four RBI.
Other nominees for the SAAC Athletes of the Week included senior lacrosse standout C.J. Studnicky (Severna Park, Md./Severna Park), freshman sprinter Andre Butler (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville) and junior outfielder Derek Miller (Rayland, Ohio/Linsly) on the men’s side, along with junior softball pitcher Kelsey Bish (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) and track and field standout, senior Paige Prato (Gibsonia, Pa./Deer Lakes) for the women.
