Class of 1964
Robert Pace was a four-year member of the Bison swimming program and held 11 swimming records at the time of his graduation, as well as six other competitive swimming marks. He won the 1962 and 1964 PAC championship in the 200 Backstroke, with his time of 2:15.3 in ’62 setting a conference record that stood for four years.
Out of the pool, Pace was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order, Varsity B, IRC and worked for The Tower.
Pace graduate from Bethany in 1964 with a degree in history/political science and also earned a minor in economics. He went on to become a Lieutenant in the United States Navy and later worked in San Francisco for a life insurance company. After moving to South Carolina, he became co-owner of Oceana Corporation, which was sold in the 1990s and is currently employed by American Stainless Alloy Products.
