BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College is seeking athletes to participate in the college’s first Special Olympics Field Day.

The event is set for 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at the Thomas Phillips Johnson Health and Recreation Center on the Bethany College campus. Special needs individuals of all ages will be taught the fundamentals of soccer, football, volleyball, basketball, golf, track and field, and cross country.

There is no cost to take part, and all participants will receive a T-shirt.

The event is organized by Bethany College sophomore Allison Paxton, a sophomore psychology major from Canonsburg, Pa., who is on the soccer and track and field teams. She is the vice president of traditions for the Student Activities Council, which is sponsoring the event.
