Nov. 16- ELKINS, W.Va.- The Bethany College women’s swimming and diving team squeaked out a 121-113 victory Davis and Elkins College on Saturday afternoon, while the Bethany College men’s swimming and diving team fell 202-50.
The win for the women improves their record to 6-1 on the season.
Junior Marina Baker (Winchester, Va./Sherando) paced the Bison with three victories on the afternoon, as she took first place in the 100 breast (1:15.68), 200 free (2:07.08) and the 200 breast (2:48.96).
Sophomore Alexi Pyles (Los Angeles, Calif./GHCHS) and freshman Christine Pray (Canton, Mich./Canton ) also had great swims for the Bison. Pyles won the the 100 fly (1:02.99) and took second in the 100 free (57.69) while Pray won the longest event of the meet, the 1,000 free (12:11.41) and took second in the 500 free (5:39.50).
Freshman Mariah Antennuci (Pittsburgh, Pa./Baldwin) displayed a wide array of strokes as she took second in the 200 IM (2:56.39).
The 200 free relay (1:49.91) finished with the best time and was comprised of Pyles, Pray, sophomore Taylor Jacobs (King of Prussia, Pa./Upper Merion) and Baker.
On the men’s side, freshman Jacob Collas (South Park, Pa./South Park) won the 100 breast (1:03.68) and took second in the 200 breast (2:23.15).
Freshman Danny Faix (Pittsburgh, Pa./Brentwood) had a solid meet for the Bison, as he took second in the 200 fly (2:25.41), 500 free (5:36.81) and third in the 1,000 free(11:54.50).
Bethany returns to the pool next Saturday (Nov. 23) when it travels to Gallaudet with the meet scheduled to get underway at 2:00 p.m.
