Nov. 7 – BETHANY, W. Va. – Bison Volleyball sophomore, Julia Mouch (Toledo, Ohio/Sylvania Southview) has been named to the Capital One Academic All-District II team announced the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) on Thursday afternoon.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative G.P.A. of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their current institution and be nominated by their sports information director. All Division III institutions in Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Rhode Island and West Virginia make up District II.
Mouch has been the cornerstone of a Bison defense that is holding its’ conference opponents to a .110 hitting percentage. With Mouch at the helm the team has also held teams under a .100 hitting percentage 16 times on the year, while forcing a negative hitting percentage in 25% of those contests.
Individually, Mouch ranks first on the team in digs with 561, and has posted double-digit digs in 31 of the 36 matches this season. During the 2013 campaign, Mouch has eclipsed 20+ digs, seven times, and has reached a season-high of 28, twice. Offensively, Mouch currently ranks third on the team in service aces with 42.
In the classroom, Mouch also excels, as she currently boasts a 3.96 in Biochemistry and has a double minor in Zoology and Math. A Kalon Scholar, Mouch also works for the admissions department at the college.
“Julia is a great leader both on and off the court,” remarked head coach Courtney Kline of her sophomore libero. “Her commitment, both on the court as well as in the classroom, really epitomize what it means to be a Division III athlete.”
