Nov. 4 - BETHANY, W.Va. – The Bethany College women’s basketball team was predicted to place eighth this year according to the preseason poll released following the 2010-11 PAC Basketball Media Day conference call today.

Under seventh-year head coach Rebecca Upton, Bethany has all five starters and two other letterwinners back from last year’s 7-19 team that also finished 4-10 in the conference, although nine of the Bison’s setbacks came by seven points or less. With 67 points in Thursday’s balloting, BC finished ahead of Thiel (36) and just a short distance behind Grove City (72) for sixth place and Waynesburg (70) for seventh place.

Four-time defending champion Thomas More was once again picked to win the conference, as they garnered 177 points off the strength of 17 first place voters. Saint Vincent was picked second with 149 points and two first place votes, followed by Washington & Jefferson (124 points, one first place vote), Westminster (121) and Chatham (84).

The 2010-11 season gets underway for Bethany on Monday, Nov. 15 when they host Carnegie Mellon at Hummel Field House in a 6 p.m. start. The PAC slate tips off Wednesday, Dec. 1 at home against Westminster.
