Seventy-one students from Bethany College spent their summer on campus working a variety of jobs to help fund their education. They were recognized for their hard work at a picnic Thursday, August 14, at Christman Manor at Pendleton Heights, the historic home of Bethany President Scott D. Miller.
Course for Congregational Videographers, Historians to be Held at Bethany’s Buffalo Seminary
A seminar on creating local church videos will be held at Bethany College’s Buffalo Seminary September 12-13. The course will focus on both what to include in the videos, as well as how to create them using computer programs.

BBN Covers OVAC Pep Rally
The Bethany Broadcasting Network was at Bison Stadium Saturday, July 26, covering the pep rally for the Rudy Mumley OVAC All-Star Football Charity Classic. T.W. Phillips Memorial Library Hosts Meeting
Nearly 100 librarians gathered at Mountainside Conference Center earlier this summer for the spring conference of the Western Pennsylvania/West Virginia Chapter of the Association of College & Research Libraries. Attendees included T.W. Phillips Memorial Library staff members Heather Ricciuti, Director of Libraries & Learning Resources; Trevor Onest, Public Services Librarian; Heather Turner-Kaufman, Technical Services Librarian; and Sharon Monigold, Director of Historic Bethany & Archivist.
Library Anthropologist Nancy Fried Foster delivered the keynote address "Designing the Student-Centered Academic Library." The one-day meeting offered presentations on collection development, patron friendly spaces and services, outreach programs, and information literacy. The afternoon break featured poster session presentations including "College Libraries and Social Media Best Practices," co-presented by Meghan Philp '13 and her colleague Emily Mross, MLIS candidates at the University of Pittsburgh. Meeting participants concluded the day with a tour of the T.W. Phillips Memorial Library.
Bethany Represented at State Press Association Convention
Dr. Mort Gamble, Executive Assistant to the President, and M.E. Yancosek Gamble, Chair of the Department of Business, Communications and Media Arts, represented Bethany College Aug. 7-9 at the annual convention of the West Virginia Press Association at Canaan Valley Resort. They had an opportunity to visit with WVU President E. Gordon Gee at the opening reception, and various media leaders from throughout the Mountain State. Among the activities were awards given to top newspaper advertising campaigns. Business practices and trends in journalism were also addressed in the various sessions. The West Virginia Press Association will co-sponsor the Society for Collegiate Journalists Conference to be held at Bethany College, October 2-4, 2014.
Bethany's Phi Mu Recognized Nationally
Beta Nu Chapter of Phi Mu received six awards at their 2014 National Convention. They include Formal Recruitment Quota Award, Academic Honor Roll, Perfect 10 on Finance Portion of Commitment to Excellence for One Year of the Biennium, Perfect Risk Management Score on the CTE, Most Improved CTE Score, and 75th Anniversary Award. New Mail and Duplication Center
The mail and duplication center has recently been moved from Old Main to Morlan Hall.The mail center will also now have mail boxes for Bethany students, faculty and campus offices. Students will now be able to have mail sent directly to them at the College, and they will no longer need to purchase post offices boxes through the United States Postal Service.
