BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College kicked off its sixth annual Ann Wilkin Trombadore Women & Leadership Symposium on Friday night by recognizing the college’s outstanding female students.

Geoffrey Foster, president of the Student Government Association, announced the 2022 honorees.

Hailee Vizyak, a sophomore from Wellsburg, W.Va. majoring in biochemistry, and Natalia Chavez-Brown, a junior from Frederick, Md., majoring in education, were recognized for their academic performance.

For leadership in athletics, Makenzee Mason, a sophomore from Lithopolis, Ohio, majoring in psychology; Lynn Burton, a sophomore from Columbus, Ohio, majoring in psychology; and Kylie Davis, a senior from Woodsfield, Ohio, majoring in sports psychology, were honored.

Allison Paxton, a senior from Canonsburg, Pa., majoring in psychology, and Paisley Travis, a junior from West Finley, Pa., majoring in history, were recognized for their commitment to community service and philanthropy.

Lindsey Robinson, a senior biology major from Smithfield, Pa., and Sidney Felouzis, a freshman international business major from Weirton, W.Va., were recognized for their campus involvement.

Alexia Chavez-Brown, a junior from Frederick, Md., majoring Spanish, and Joanna Melita, a junior from Fredericksburg, Va., majoring in sports management, were recognized for their leadership in Bethany’s Greek life.

Keynote speaker Martha Pomerantz, partner and portfolio manager for Evercore Wealth Management in Minneapolis, and moderator Beth Van Riper Miller ’79, consultant and owner of BVRM LLC, shared their career successes and financial advice.

More than 180 students, alumnae, faculty and staff gathered for the Ann Wilkin Trombadore Women & Leadership Symposium Friday night. The event returned for the first time since 2019 after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the symposium in 2020 and 2021.
