Biology
This summer Dr. Jennifer Franko, Assistant Professor of Biology, was chosen for a WV-INBRE summer faculty fellowship for a second year.  She worked with Rosana Schafer in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Cell Biology at WVU on a project that investigated the role of XX vs. XY sex chromosome complement in the regulation of the immune system using a novel mouse model.  Dr. Schafer and Dr. Franko have been collaborating for two years now.  These studies were a continuation of the studies they performed last summer and have generated samples that Dr. Franko plans to use to involve students in the project at Bethany.  She presented this data as a talk at the 2013 WV-INBRE Summer Symposium at Marshall University at the end of July.
