Bethany Announces Fall 2013 President's List and Dean's List
Bethany College has announced the President's List and the Dean's List for the fall semester of the 2013-14 school year.

Owens ’93 to Address Bethany Kalon Scholarship Candidates
Todd Owens, a non-profit consulting expert and 1993 Bethany graduate, will deliver the keynote address for the 30th Annual Kalon Scholarship Luncheon to be held on Feb. 15.

Bethany College Announces Speaker for MLK Day
Dr. John Mattox, curator and founder of the Underground Railroad Museum in Flushing, Ohio, has been as announced as the speaker for Bethany College’s Martin Luther King Jr. Day Celebration Jan. 20.

Bethany Students, Faculty Visit United Arab Emirates
Students from the Business & Accounting Cub and the Economics Club, along with Business club advisor Dr. Anju Ramjee, traveled to the United Arab Emirates on Dec. 17. Ramjee, the John F. and Evelyn Casey Steen Professor in Economics and Professor of Finance, said students had the opportunity to learn about the financial importance of Dubai to the Middle East and the culture of the region. They visited Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi and toured the heritage village, the heritage museums, the Islamic heritage center in Sharjah along with a visit to the Burj Khalifa (the tallest building in the world), Burj Al Arab, Jumeirah Beach, the famous Dubai Mall, Ferrari racetrack, the famous Grand White Mosque (aka Sheik Zayed Mosque) in Abu Dhabi and enjoyed their first “dune bashing,” a popular pastime in Dubai. Nominations Sought for President’s Awards
Bethany President Scott D. Miller is again seeking nominations from all campus constituencies for the President’s Awards for Excellence in Performance. One will be awarded to a member of the faculty and another to a member of the staff. Recipients will be announced during the annual Honors Day Convocation. Nominations should be sent directly to the President at Office of the President, Bethany College, Old Main, Bethany, WV 26032.


USA Today Features Bethany Alumnus Nevada Smith
Nevada Smith '02, head coach of the NBA Development League team the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, is "living the dream." according to USA Today. Four months ago, he was coaching at Keystone College in La Pluma, Pa., and he's now in a crucial role for the Houston Rockets. Read the entire article here.

Bethany Accepting Nominations for Alumnus of the Year Award
The Alumnus of the Year Award was established by the Office of the President to recognize outstanding loyalty and accomplishment by alumni of Bethany College. The award recognizes not one achievement, but is reserved for those who have attained and maintained excellence throughout their career and in their service to others. Nominations should be sent to Office of the President, Bethany College, Old Main, Bethany, WV 26032.


1. Must hold a degree from Bethany College.
2. Must demonstrate outstanding professional accomplishment and personal deeds on behalf of Bethany College.
3. Nominations may come from all constituency groups of the College.
4. Nominations should be made in the form of a formal letter detailing the strengths of the nominee.
5. The Director of Alumni and Parent Relations & President's Cabinet will serve as the screening committee for the award.
6. The President of the College will choose the recipient.

Bethany Alumni Association Now Accepting Nominations for Alumni Awards
The Bethany College Alumni Association is now accepting nominations for the annual Alumni Awards. Award recipients are selected by the Internal Affairs Committee of Alumni Council from nomination forms submitted by alumni and friends of Bethany. Recipients will be honored at a banquet during Alumni Weekend festivities slated for May 2-May 4. Swimming & Diving Keeps Rolling In Victories Over Frostburg State
The Bethany College swimming & diving teams continued their strong seasons, as both the men’s and women’s teams posted victories over Frostburg State University on Wednesday. The men took home a 146-105 victory, while the women defeated the Bobcats 140-114.

Bison Tame Cougars In Conference Battle
The Bethany women’s basketball team (4-10, 3-4 PAC) grinded out a hard-fought victory (70-56) over conference foe Chatham Wednesday night.

Delonte' Joyce/Christine Pray Named SAAC Athletes of the Week
Bethany College junior men’s basketball player Delonte’ Joyce (Annapolis, Md./Annapolis) and women's swimming & diving freshman Christine Pray (Canton, Mich./Canton) have been named the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee’s Athletes of the week announced the Bethany SAAC on Tuesday.

Bison Volleyball To Host February Freeze Clinic
The Bethany College volleyball team has announced that it will be hosting the February Freeze Clinic on Saturday, February 15 at the Hummel Field House in Bethany.

Men's Basketball Locks Down Muskingum In 85-62 Victory
The Bethany College men’s basketball team (12-3, 5-1 PAC) used a strong second half effort to run away with an 85-62 victory over Muskingum University on Monday evening.

Bethany’s Williams named PAC SAAC Scholar-Athlete of the Month
Bethany College senior women's basketball player Skylar Williams (Jefferson Hills, Pa./Thomas Jefferson) has been named the Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Scholar-Athlete of the Month for December 2013, announced the conference office.
