Career Counseling & Placement Hosts Traveling Workshop
On May 8, 2013, 8 students participated in the Office of Career Counseling & Placement’s (OCCP) traveling workshop titled ‘How to Dress for Success for Less’.  Following strict shopping guidelines, each student was allowed to choose up to $100 worth of business attire to begin building their professional wardrobe necessary for their upcoming internships and careers. Students were shown various options of where and how to shop for affordable quality pieces.  During this workshop, the group visited several shops in the Pittsburgh area including The Clothes Mentor, Glad Raggs Boutique, The Savvy Fox, and Marshall’s. Students participating in this event were Heather Hamm, Monica Westerheide, Kaitlyn Tate, Bethany Mullins, Kayla McQuillan, Amanda Rodabaugh, Alex Delgiorno, and Zac Everhart and advised by Amy VanHorn.

Exciting future plans for the OCCP include a working partnership with the Kalons to bring this advised shopping experience on campus for all Bethany College students through the new career closet. The OCCP and Katherine Shelek-Furbee, the Kalon advisor, will oversee the Kalon scholars who will operate and manage the closet which is scheduled to open Fall 2013 in Morlan Hall. This service will assist our students to look their best for their internships.

Bethany Completing NCAA Self-Study
The Bethany College Athletic Department is finalizing the NCAA Self-Study, a document the Association requires every institution to complete once every five years. As part of the Study, Bethany would like to remind alumni, parents, and supporters of Bison athletics its definition of athletic success. Bethany views athletics as an opportunity to test one’s courage, mental and physical discipline and commitment to excellence. It is essential we realize it is through the process of trying to win that we grow and develop. It is through setting goals and overcoming challenges that our student athletes test themselves and achieve success both in the classroom and in athletics alike.

Bethany also invites everyone to view the NCAA Alumni and Friends Recruiting Guidelines by clicking here: www.bethanywv.edu/athletics/ncaa-alumni-recruiting-guidelines/.
