Sven de Jong promoted to Senior Vice President
President Miller is pleased to announce the promotion of Sven de Jong (’95) to Senior Vice President of Bethany College.  de Jong has served as Vice President for Institutional Advancement of Bethany since 2005.

“Sven has played an important role in the qualitative growth of Bethany College,” Dr. Miller said.  “This is a fitting and proper way to recognize an individual who loves Bethany College and devotes his full energies to its prosperity.”

As senior vice president, he oversees external affairs programs of the College including the Center for Institutional Advancement (development, alumni & parent relations, communications & marketing, government relations, church relations, sports information, and Historic Bethany) and the Center for Enrollment (undergraduate & graduate enrollment, transfer & pre-collegiate programs, and financial aid). He serves as the senior vice president responsible for administrative facilitation/coordination for the President’s Cabinet and is a liaison for board of trustees’ relations. During his seven years as vice president, he has facilitated approximately $76 million in public and private support and supervised a recruitment program that has generated four of the top recruiting classes in the past 35 years. He is an active contributor to several publications including “Bethany Today,” “The Old Main Journal” and a variety of Bethany’s marketing publications.

Jordan ’81 Leads Initiative at Reed Smith LLP
Bethany alum Greg Jordan ’81 recently managed a program to solicit feedback from all staff, leading to dozens of improvements across the firm. This program is just one of a number of initiatives led by Jordan, a global managing partner at Reed Smith LLP.

This has earned him a spot on Law360’s list of America’s Most Innovating Managing Partners. The Brainstorm Barnstorm program is part of a culture of innovation stemming from Jordan’s 12-year tenure as global managing partner for Reed Smith – a period which has led to explosive growth for the firm, from 600 lawyers in seven offices to more than 1,700 lawyers in 23 offices across three continents.

Brainstorm Barnstorm, which took place over the course of a year from 2011 into early 2012, has brought together two key focuses for Reed Smith under his leadership – business and client development and development of the firm’s culture and talent – leading to “dozens and dozens” of improvements, Jordan said.
