CAPITAL RENOVATIONS $12 MILLION
Bethany has big plans for campus including significantly investing in building renovations that will address deferred maintenance, supply ultramodern facility upgrades and give opportunities for enjoyment and engagement to our entire community.
While we do not plan on building new buildings, we do plan on giving significant facelifts on some of our most prominent spaces that have remained virtually untouched for decades. Phillips Hall, for example, is a beautiful historical building that is only used for small events at the time of this writing. Can you reimagine it with our Enrollment Office having a Welcome Center on the ground floor or a modern esports arena in the lower floor? Imagine the doors of Morlan Hall reopening and welcoming students in the Fall 2024! A new fitness center that will accommodate not only our student-athletes but the entire Bethany community.
We believe that changes like this will give new life to spaces that have lost some of their luster.
ACADEMIC PROGRAMS & PARTNERSHIPS $4 MILLION
We are dedicated to investing in our academic programs and external partnerships to help drive enrollment and become more competitive in the local markets. New academic programs introduced during the BUILD For A Lifetime Strategic Plan include: esport gaming management and game development minors, criminal justice, international relations, healthcare administration, and digital marketing undergraduate majors, as well as a 4+1 MBA program. Other new programs will be designed by our current faculty, tested against the current market, and approved by the Higher Learning Commission, our accrediting body, like a masters in data analytics, social work with a concentration in substance abuse. This will drive new interest and higher enrollment numbers by making us more competitive with popular programs and serve our greater community.
Bethany College empowers students to chart their unique paths, thanks to thoughtfully crafted partnerships strategically implemented by the College.
Bethany College’s Brooke Collegiate Academy offers Brooke County High School students the chance to earn two years of college credits at no extra cost. Additional new partnerships with nationally recognized medical and law institutions, such as the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine, Northeast Ohio Medical University College of Pharmacy, St. George’s University, and Appalachian School of Law have provided students with pathways to achieve their dreams. These partnerships offer Bethany students early guaranteed admission, accelerated degree programs, and potential cost and time savings.
These partnerships offer students new academic engagement opportunities and help Bethany recruit, retain and graduate the next generation of Bethanian leaders. Additional new and exciting partnerships will be announced for Academic Year 2024-2025!
BETHANY FUND $4 MILLION
We owe a debt of gratitude to all of the alumni and friends of Bethany College who have donated to the Bethany Fund. Through their generosity and continual support, so many of our students have fulfilled their dreams of a liberal arts education. These donations have not only provided scholarship funding, but also support academic and student life programs, athletics, clubs and activities, research and travel for faculty and students. Additionally, the funds raised by our alumni have helped pay for renovating our classrooms and provided state-of-the-art learning equipment and technology.
The higher the participation, the stronger Bethany will become. College rankings and grant award applications from foundations and corporations are directly impacted by the participation rates of our alumni. If you already give to the Bethany Fund, please consider increasing your gift to further build the strength of our school. Unrestrictive support to the Bethany Fund is critical to day-to-day operations at Bethany. If you’ve never given before or only donate occasionally, we ask that you consider starting an annual traditional of giving. Your contribution, no matter the size, will help give our students a life-changing education in the liberal arts and sciences.

The value of the gift is determined by the average market value of the stock on the date the gift is transferred to Bethany. For further details, contact your broker and a member of the Bethany Development Staff.
Electronic Transfer
Giving stock through electronic transfer is the easiest method when a donor maintains holdings in a brokered account. Depository Trust Company, or DTC, is the clearinghouse for electronic security transfers. Each brokerage firm has a specific DTC number. When you wish to make a gift of stock, provide the following information to the transferring broker.
Acct Name: Trustees of Bethany College, FBO NFS Acct: # WHQ-017566, DTC: 0226
Clearing Broker: Hazlett, Burt & Watson
Reference: [Donor’s Name]
Please alert the Center for Institutional Advancement at Bethany College before the transfer so that the College can make arrangements with its broker to receive the stock. The College cannot retain an unidentified security. At the same time, please indicate the purpose of the contribution, such as an annual gift to a school, a pledge payment, or funds for a planned gift.
Bequests
Bequests are the most common form of planned giving. With a bequest, you make provisions for Bethany in your will, designating either a dollar amount or percentage of your estate to the College. Whatever the amount, bequests to Bethany are free from federal estate tax and the estate and inheritance taxes of most states. Bequests should be drawn and executed with your attorney’s advice.
Gifts of Life Insurance
You may assign Bethany as a beneficiary or co-beneficiary of your life insurance policy. When Bethany is named as the owner of the policy and/or the irrevocable beneficiary, the cash value of the policy may be deducted on your income tax return. Premiums paid thereafter also are income tax deductible.
