BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College is excited to announce Dr. Theodore Pauls as the new director of graduate studies, as well as chair and associate professor of business. Pauls brings with him over 28 years of experience in higher education and ten years of academic administrative experience.
Pauls comes to Bethany from Wheeling University, where he was the chair of the department of business. While there, he aided the vice president of academic affairs with proposed institutional-wide curricular changes, including new academic programs in department chair meetings. Pauls’ extensive experience in higher education and administration will continue to aid Bethany College on its path of success.
Prior to his years employed at Wheeling University, he was the interim chair of the communications department at Bethany. He also has worked at West Liberty State College and West Virginia Wesleyan College, Buckhannon.
“Dr. Paul’s is an exceptional educator, an astute leader, and a respected member of the community,” says Bethany President Dr. Jamie Caridi. “His commitment to Bethany College, his passion for our students, and his entrepreneurial attitude are precisely what is needed to lead this important endeavor.”
“Bethany College and the business department are fortunate to have Dr. Pauls leading as its chair during this transitional period,” says Provost and Dean of Faculty Anju Ramjee. “His wealth of knowledge and several decades of experience will help guide the colleges graduate ventures. His roots at Bethany are deep and he is committed to the future growth of this institution.”
Pauls received his Ed.D., MBA, and B.A. in business administration from West Virginia University. He says he is happy to join Bethany College during a pivotal time.
“It’s an exciting time for Bethany College, both the institution and the larger community,” says Pauls. “In the first week of class, I’ve had several students inquire about programs that may be available when they graduate. The work to create these programs began at approximately the same time I arrived back at Bethany. I, along with other faculty members, am fortunate to have the opportunity to review ideas and make suggestions in their development. Given the eager questions about the programs from students, I’d say the effort is well worth it and I look forward to continuing to build pathways for our success.”
