BETHANY, W.Va. – Bethany College is excited to announce the promotion of Liz Short to the role of associate vice president for development. Short previously held the role of director of philanthropic gifts since Oct. 2020.
“The College is pleased to have Liz take on this new role. With a passion for aiding students through their higher education experience, she continues to bring enthusiasm and a sense of optimism to the advancement department,” says Bethany President Dr. Jamie Caridi. “I’m excited to see her dedication be rewarded and continue to lead our College and Bethanians into a bright future.”
Short has 15 years of experience in higher education with about a decade of that experience in alumni relations and fundraising. Short began her experience at the University of Delaware. As a college student at West Virginia Wesleyan, she worked as an intern with the Advancement Office and as a senior class gift volunteer.
As a scholarship recipient during her time in higher education, she felt compelled to take on the role of giving back.
This sparked her passion for aiding those with the aptitude and desire to attend college. Her experience as an involved, engaged, first-generation student instilled in her the value of paying it forward.
“Liz joined our Bethany team two years ago and immediately became an important leader within the Advancement department,” says Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Marketing, and Communications Lori Weaver. “Liz is a passionate higher education advocate and her expertise will be invaluable as Bethany forges new horizons.”
Short feels strongly that she has affected the lives of many students. Through scholarships, providing a wonderful experience, or ensuring that buildings and facilities serve students, Short’s impact can be felt by many past, current, and future Bethanians.
“I’m deeply honored to be selected for this promotion and to lead a strong team of Development Officers,” says Short. “I believe wholeheartedly in the mission of Bethany College and know that our team, be it our advancement services, major gifts, or annual giving, is dedicated to the success of Bethany College and our student experience and I look forward to leading this team.”
With the desire to foster the education of higher education students, Short will excel in her new role.
