Bethany College Celebrates Annual Froscars

On Sunday, March 24, 2023, Bethany College Greek students gathered in Commencement Hall for the annual Froscars Awards Ceremony! Froscars (or “Fraternity Oscars”) is a formal, Oscars-style awards ceremony dedicated to celebrating the achievements of Greek students and to celebrate the end of Greek Week.

This year, Greek Week took place from March 18th – 24th, and Greek students participated in a wide variety of events. Everything from the traditional Pyramid and Greek Sing, to new events such as a Mario Kart Tournament, Volleyball, and more. At the end of every Greek Week, students dress in formal attire to celebrate the Froscars.

This year, the Froscars was hosted by Roman Hulver and Abby Hollister. Ms. Hollister  and Mr. Hulver did an excellent job as they guided the audience through both major awards and fun superlatives. Fun superlatives include Most Athletic Greek Man and Woman, Best Greek Couple, Funniest Greek Man and Woman, and more.

The following honors were awarded to outstanding Greek students for their contributions to both Greek Life and Bethany College for the year 2023-2024:

• The Mitchell Sotera Male New Member of the Year – AJ Lowe, Phi Kappa Tau
• The Jordan Weaver Female New Member of the Year – Tatum Severe, Zeta Tau Alpha
• Greek President of the Year (Fraternity) – Christian Funari, Phi Kappa Tau
• Greek President of the Year (Sorority) – Olivia Masciantoni, Zeta Tau Alpha
• Fraternity New Member Class of the Year –​ Phi Kappa Tau, Spring 2023 and Fall 2023
• Sorority New Member Class of the Year – Zeta Tau Alpha, Spring 2023 and Fall 2023
• Fraternity Senior Class of the Year – Phi Kappa Tau, Spring 2024 Class
• Sorority Senior Class of the Year – Zeta Tau Alpha, Spring 2024 Class
• Greek Man of the Year – Vance Russell, Beta Theta Phi
• Greek Woman of the Year – Lauren Cooper, Zeta Tau Alpha
• Greek Advisor of the Year – Ashley Subasic, Zeta Tau Alpha

Additionally, student Elizabeth Maier (Zeta Tau Alpha) was awarded the Carol Borden Tyler Excellence in Greek Life Award. 

This award is given every year to the student that makes a substantial impact at Bethany College. Ms. Maier is being honored as the 2023-2024 recipient for her outstanding work as panhellenic activities chair. This award was presented by the Director of Greek Life Xavier Thomas.
