BETHANY, W.Va. — Bethany College welcomed alumni, students, and friends back to campus for a memorable Homecoming weekend filled with exciting events, including the highly anticipated crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen, the Kirkpatrick Hall Science Lab and John Hull Computer Lab ribbon cuttings, and the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Class of 1992 Harmor outdoor seating area.
The festivities commenced on Friday with the Main Street Bank Golf Scramble and the Homecoming Celebration ceremony. This featured food, drinks, and a DJ, and to celebrate this year’s Alumni Award recipient, Sharon Patterson Norlander ‘78.
Saturday brought a full day of activities with beautiful weather. The Greek Life Breakfast was host to over 100 people, while the live Town Hall, featuring Bethany President Dr. Jamie Caridi and Board of Trustees Chairman Ken Bado ’77, provided an opportunity for the Bethany community to engage in meaningful discussions about the successes in recent years and growth to come. Then, the area surrounding Hummel Field House transformed into a bustling tailgating zone before the Homecoming football game at Don Ault Field. Campus was radiating with laughter and excitement all day long.
During halftime of the football game against Case Western Reserve, the Homecoming royalty was crowned. Congratulations to our 2023 Homecoming Queen and King, Kween Sirnic and Timothy Mickens!
The Homecoming football game was an electrifying matchup, but the Spartan’s edged out the Bison in a 34-12 victory. Nevertheless, the Bethany community remained undeterred, as they celebrated Homecoming weekend with a lively “5th Quarter” gathering of music, food, and camaraderie.
On Sunday, Bethany hosted a Scroll Breakfast at Oglebay Resort’s Wilson Lodge, where the Class of 1973 and other alumni who have celebrated their 50th reunions gathered. The Scroll Society, a cherished tradition, welcomed new members to its ranks.
