He also earned a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Marshall University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Wheeling University.

With a robust teaching career spanning over three decades, Romanek has taught a wide array of psychology courses at Eastern Gateway Community College, Wheeling University, West Virginia Northern Community College, and Marshall University. Most recently, Romanek served as the division chair of the department of psychology, lead faculty member, and program director of the department of social sciences at Eastern Gateway Community College, where he oversaw online course development, evaluation of adjunct faculty, course scheduling, and student issues.

Romanek’s clinical experience includes psychological evaluations, case consultations, and community education presentations. He has worked as a psychology assistant at Community Mental Health Services and as a child counselor at Wheeling University through the Upward Bound program.

“Dr. Romanek’s position as chair and associate professor of psychology marks a significant enhancement to Bethany College’s commitment to academic excellence,” says Bethany President Dr. Jamie Caridi. “His dedication to fostering a dynamic learning environment will undoubtedly elevate our psychology department, providing invaluable guidance and support to our students as they pursue their academic and professional goals.”

Romanek is equally enthusiastic about joining Bethany College. “I have been so very excited about joining the Bethany College community in these roles. I love the discipline of psychology and sharing it with my students. I consider it a great honor to have been afforded this opportunity to teach at such a prestigious institution and can’t wait to get started.”

Bethany looks forward to the positive impact Romanek will have on our community and the continued growth and development of the psychology department under his leadership.
